Effect of long-term intake of Vitasil on ultrasound and blood biochemical parameters associated with fatty liver disease in common carp (Cyprinus carpio)
Authors
Abstract:
Fatty liver disease (FLD) is the most common cause of chronic liver disease in fish in the whole world. In the present study, the hepatoprotective effect of preparatıon Vitasil content extract of Milk thistle (Silybum marianum) was evaluated by ultrasound examination of liver and measuring biochemical parameters of liver function. 240 carp were randomly assigned into three groups (two experimental and one control) with different diet for each of them in order to induce experimental obesity and liver dystrophy for period of 9 months. Blood samples were taken every 3 months during the study to evaluate AST, ALT, total protein and albumin concentrations. While at the same time six fish from each of the groups were anesthetized and ultrasound scanned. The obtained results of the study proved the protective effect of preparation Vitasil on liver tissue and function.

Common Carp, Cyprinus carpio
The common carp (Cyprinus carpio) belongs to the family Cyprinidae. In nature, carp live in the middle or lower reaches of a river with slow currents, or in marshes. Their habitats are usually weedy areas with a muddy bottom. Carp fry feed on zooplankton such as rotifers and copepods, but as they grow up they become benthic feeders, feeding on animals and other organic material. The cyprinids h...

Distribution ! e common carp [Cyprinus carpio Linnaeus (1758)] has been one of the oldest domesticated species of fi sh for food. Culture of carp in China dates back to at least the 5th century BC, although domestication began much later. ! e European races of carp derived from wild carp of the Danube; the earliest attempts date back to the Roman Empire and spread of Christianity in Europe, fro...
full textChanges in biochemical and physiological responses of common carp, Cyprinus carpio L. after long-term exposure to Pb (II)
In this study, the chronic toxic effects of Pb (II) on common carp, Cyprius carpio were investigated using several biomarkers at different levels of biological functions for assessing changes in ecosystem quality. In a bioassay, common carp juveniles were individually exposed to different dose of heavy metal, Pb II (0, 0.45, 0.89, 1.34 mg.l-1) for 28 days. Morphological indices such as hepat...

Effects of Dimethoate Pesticide and Bacilar Bio-fertilizer on Some Blood Biochemical Parameters of Common Carp (Cyprinus carpio) Abstract Dimethoate pesticide and bacilar bio-fertilizer are two common inputs widely used in Iranian agriculture which washed by run-off and transmitted to aquatic ecosystems where they can cause biological and physiological problems for aquatic organisms. The...
full textEffect of livergol drug on growth performance and preservation of fatty liver in common carp (Cyprinus carpio) fed with diets containing different level of fatty
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of livergol drug on growth indices and prevention of fatty liver disease in different levels of fat in common carp diets. In 2017, 9 diets of different nutrients were prepared with 3 levels of 0, 0.5 and 1% livergol and three levels of 5, 10 and 20% fat. The fish were fed for 180 days. After the end of breeding period, fish growth indices (e...
full textThe effect of transport on biochemical and haematological indices of common carp (Cyprinus carpio L.)
The effect of 12 h transport on the biochemical and haematological profiles of three-years-old common carp was investigated. There was a significant increase (P < 0.01) in ammonia, chloride, phosphorus, lactate dehydrogenase, aspartate aminotransferase and creatine kinase, and a significant decrease (P < 0.05) in total proteins. The levels of glucose (P < 0.01), lactate (P < 0.05), alanine amin...
